Uninor Plan Details

Uninor, majority owned by Norway-Based telecom service provider Telenor has introduced two new tariff plans for its subscribers. The two plans Talklonger@29p/min and Callmore@29p/min offers call rates as low as 29p/min for local calls and 49p/min for STD calls. The plan details are as follows.

Uninor launches services in India


Uninor, a joint venture between real estate firm Unitech and Norway based telecom service provider Telenor has launched its services in India. The company has started services in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, UP(E), UP(W) and Bihar including Jharkhand telecom circles. The company has Pan-India telecom licence and has spectrum in 21 of 22 telecom circles. The company has announced two tariff plans which offers local calls at 29 paise and STD calls at 49 paise. Uninor will be a Pan-India operator by June,2010.

11-Digit mobile numbers soon

The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has proposed a 11-digit mobile numbering system from January 1 to meet the needs of increasing subscribers, according to reports. A DOT note says, "The National Numbering Plan 2003 is amended for migration to 11-digit numbering plan in mobile services by prefixing digit '9' in existing two-digit PLMN access code". If this happens, the subscribers will have to prefix 9 to existing 10-digit number. For example, a number beginning with 9xxxxxxxxx will become 99xxxxxxxxx.

MTNL launches 'Per Second' billing plan

State-run telecom service provider MTNL has introduced pay per second billing scheme for its 2G and 3G customers in Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles. With this scheme, local and STD calls to its own network will be charged @ half-a-paise per second while calls to other network across the country will be charged @ 1 p/sec. MTNL also offers video calls within its own network @ 1 p/sec.

Govt. bans Mobile phones without IMEI number

Indian Govt. has decided to ban all mobile phones without IMEI number from today. It is expected that around 15 to 20 million mobile phones which are cheap and mostly made in China without IMEI nos. will be banned from today. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity is a unique 15-digit code which comes with every handset. IMEI is used to prevent making calls from stolen handsets and it allows to track down a specific user. Hence the users with mobile phones without proper IMEI are advised to implant IMEI nos. which costs Rs. 199 to avoid facing disconnection.

Manor GP to enter F1 as Virgin Racing


The Manor GP Formula One team has been entered for 2010 season as Virgin Racing, according to announcement by FIA. The deal between Manor GP and Virgin is expected to be announced soon. The team has already signed Timo Glock as one of its drivers'. The second seat is yet to be filled.
